“Leticia” completed financial literacy courses in March. She did not have a
bank account. Since finishing the class, she contacted her former bank
about getting a checking account. Because of her history banking there,
she was required to work through an appeal process. Leticia made an
appointment and wrote a letter to bank management entailing her
recovery journey and future intentions. Her appeal was granted once she
repaid past fees.
Leticia is now working full-time. She is working on her budget and ways to
minimize spending. She realized the money she could save by purchasing a
monthly bus pass rather than daily passes. She also recognized some
inconsistencies on her credit score and is working through the dispute
process.
